History of Saukville
Saukville was first inhabited by Native Americans, mostly from the Sauk tribe.  White settlers came to the area between 1845 and 1846.  Some of Saukville’s first settlers were: Honathan Tibetts, William Payne, Joseph Fowler, Joseph Fischbein, Lott Blanchard, E. Wadsworth, Lemuel Sezer, Stephen McIntosh, William Foster and George C. Daniels.  Saukville real estate was once part of the old Port Washington area before it was officially established along the Milwaukee River.

Today, Saukville is a thriving, family-friendly community with a strong economy.

Education in Saukville
Saukville students are served by the Port Washington-Saukville School District.  There are three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in Saukville real estate.  The district is dedicated to creating a strong education for each child it serves.  It works with students, teachers and parents by providing high standards and positive leadership.

In the 2008-2009 school year, each school will focus on academic achievement, good citizenship, strong character and service to others.  Each school offers after-school programs, athletic and academic programs along with positive youth clubs.  The district is also striving to create wonderful youth that the community can be proud of.

Things to See and Do in Saukville
There are many attractions and activities to enjoy in and around the Saukville area.  Water actives, such as fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming and more, are the most popular among residents and visitors.  The Riveredge Nature Center is a great place to enjoy the peaceful wildlife.  In the wildlife sanctuary, you can simply watch the wildlife or you can join the wildlife while on a hike.

If you are a museum lover, you will love the Pioneer Village History Museum.  This living history museum allows its visitors to step back in time and experience the past with over 20 historical sites along a rolling hillside.  The Bog, an 18-hole golf course designed by Arnold Palmer, is another great activity to enjoy in Saukville.  The course is surrounded by natural woods and lovely rolling hills.

Saukville has many year-round celebrations to take advantage of.  In May, transport yourself to yesteryear with the ever-so-popular Crossroads Rendezvous and relive Saukville’s history.  Enjoy the Fourth of July festivities that include a fun-filled day for families and visitors, complete with an old-fashioned parade and an awesome fireworks display.  Family Fun Day is in September.  On this day, everyone enjoys a Classic Auto Show.

Saukville has so much to offer its residents with a wonderful history, great schools and plenty of activities to keep you busy in your free time.  It is also one of the best communities in the nation to live and raise a family.
